Opel,the subsidiary of US carmaker General Motors(GM),has started the production of ADAM,the small segment car,at the Eisenach plant in Germany,which will be launched on 19 January 2013.
The company has invested$248m in the plant,where the Corsa is also produced and expects to balance the sales in Europe by 2015.
Opel management board deputy chairman Dr.Thomas Sedran said:"The ADAM is a clear commitment to our plant in Eisenach and to Germany as a whole."
The car is available with about 61,000 exterior variants and 82,000 interiors including colors,rims and headliners,while sporting the IntelliLink infotainment system and Siri Eyes Free mode.
Features of the hatchback include automatic park assist,heated steering wheel,side blind spot alert and the integrated rear bicycle carrier FlexFix.
Additionally,the company plans to launch the Cascada convertible in first half of 2013,while planning to release 23 new vehicles and 13 new engines by 2016.
